PALETTE / AI CREATIVE PRODUCTION
One idea.
Every format.
Palette wants to turn one creative idea into an entire campaign. Can AI become a dependable production system?

THE IDEA BEHIND THE INTERFACE
Making content is easy.
Making it belong together
is the work.
One tool makes the image. Another makes the video. Then someone fixes the copy, finds music, crops everything, and notices that the campaign looks like six different brands.
The interesting question is how much creative direction survives that journey. A usable system needs to remember the audience, the message, the references, and the decisions already made.
Palette describes generation and natural-language editing across media in a connected workflow. Storyboard direction and character continuity are advertised; brand kits, collaboration, and repurposing sit under its broader production ambition. Public materials do not provide a clear release matrix. [1]
Josephine Lee (CEO) and Serena Pei (CTO) say they met at an art program, studied computer science at MIT, and bring multimodal research, computer vision, and collective experience at Scale AI, Datadog, and Amazon. YC lists Summer 2026, a two-person team, and primary partner Ankit Gupta. Their launch invites creators and marketing teams to connect. [2]
Evidence boundary: this is analysis of public product materials, not a hands-on review. The tools below are original local planning simulations. They do not call Palette or generate real images or video.
01 / AI CREATIVE CAMPAIGN STUDIO
What could you make
from one good idea?
Give a fictional product a direction. Watch that direction carry across formats, then take a usable production brief with you.

02 / THE WORK BETWEEN THE MODELS
A creative pipeline
has more than one decision.
This conceptual map explains production orchestration. It is an educational model, not a diagram of Palette’s private architecture.
One model
Useful for a bounded output. You still supply direction and assemble the surrounding work.
Separate tools
You move references, track revisions, and make the assets agree. Flexible, but context can fall out between steps.
A unified studio
Shared context could make those handoffs easier. Check whether revisions preserve approved choices and whether finished work exports cleanly.
03 / BRAND CONSISTENCY LAB
Can AI keep a brand
looking like itself?
Our fictional brand, Forma, sells a modular desk light. Flip between scattered generations and a shared direction. Change the identity and see the whole campaign respond.
Illustrative design comparison. Palette’s consistency engine is not running here. Matching colors is easier than preserving a character’s face, product geometry, or physical motion across shots.
04 / MODEL ROUTING EXPLORER
Does every task need
the most expensive model?
At the advertised $0.01 per credit. This converts a budget, not a predicted job cost. Per-model costs must be checked in Studio or the authenticated model catalog.
Palette says Studio and API share credits, failed jobs are refunded, and cheaper fallbacks return the difference. Its speed and savings figures are internal claims with insufficient public methodology for independent validation. [1]
| Palette label | Advertised clip | Audio / references | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Veo 3 | 8s · 1080p · 16:9 or 9:16 | Generated audio; opening frame | Model page |
| Kling 3 Pro | 15s · 1080p · square or widescreen / vertical | No audio; opening frame | Model page |
| Seedance 2.5 | 30s · 720p · square or widescreen / vertical | Audio; up to four images and motion references | Model page |
Palette also lists MiniMax H3, Flux 3, Wan 3, Google Omni Flash, and PixVerse V5.5. These are vendor catalog labels, not a guarantee of upstream availability or access in every account. [1]
What developers can verify before integrating
The public API describes image, video, music, and transformation endpoints; videos use job polling. Check authentication, accepted model IDs, credit quotes, error behavior, output retention, and rate limits against the live account. No API calls were made for this review. [1]
05 / WHAT I WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE
A launch for
Useful in Practice.
One real publication. One existing Voyager Field Note. A coherent creative package built around the question: what happens when AI can use the creative tools you already know?

tools have a
new operator.
06 / BEYOND THE SOCIAL FEED
The same production problem.
A different audience.
Palette markets enterprise creative services; project and enterprise quotes differ from individual credits. The examples above are proposed applications, not customer case studies. [3] [2]
07 / THE INDEPENDENT VERDICT
Worth a focused trial.
Make it prove the handoffs.
The strongest reason to investigate Palette is continuity. Can an approved creative decision survive the next generation, edit, and format change?
Where the idea earns attention
A small team can spend more time coordinating tools than directing the work. Shared references, a common brief, and a visible production sequence could reduce that burden. Model routing also makes sense when the cheapest suitable option is good enough for the task.
For a creator, I would start with one short campaign: a product image, a multi-shot video, and a crop for social. Use the same references, deliberately revise a detail, and check whether the other approved choices stay intact.
What people still contribute
The audience, the angle, the taste, and the evidence. A technically polished asset can still say the wrong thing. Agencies and creators bring customer understanding, original performance, rights clearance, editorial judgment, and the ability to notice when the story does not land.
What this review cannot establish
I have not used the authenticated Studio, measured output quality, tested revisions, or confirmed collaboration behavior. The public site is not enough to judge interface usability, learning curve, export precision, character fidelity, or repeatability. Those remain trial questions.
Ask for a feature-by-feature demo, a before-run cost quote, revision history, and export files you can inspect. Include failed generations and human cleanup time when comparing the total cost with your existing workflow.
Who should be cautious
If you need frame-level edits, controlled typography, compositing, or a production pipeline already built around professional applications, keep those requirements explicit. A unified conversation needs to earn its place beside precise manual controls.
Funding, commercial relationships and enterprise maturity
Palette’s LinkedIn profile describes seed-stage backing from YC, OpenAI, and E14. YC participation is verified through YC. I did not establish the amount, instrument, or exact nature of the OpenAI relationship; this is not evidence of an OpenAI product endorsement. [4]
Its security page describes enterprise controls and says SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 are roadmap items. Ask for current evidence and terms for your organization; do not treat the roadmap as completed certification. [5]
Five things I would ask Palette to show
- Keep the same product and character recognizable across three shots.
- Change one object without resetting the approved visual direction.
- Show the exact credit quote, retry behavior, and refund record.
- Export usable files for a human editor to finish.
- Repeat the workflow a week later with the same approved references.
08 / CHOOSE YOUR CREATIVE LAYER
Which kind of tool
do you actually need?
| Approach | Documented positioning / practical role | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Palette | Connected multimodal generation and editing | Feature access, reference continuity, costs and export |
| Voyager | Local harness coordinating models and creative applications | Application compatibility, permissions and editable outputs |
| Vyra | Conversational editing of uploaded footage | Editing depth, exact changes and final exports |
| Traditional editors & design tools | Direct craft and precise manual revision | Skill, assembly time and your existing production process |
| Standalone generative tools | One generation task or specialist model | Reference support, output limits and downstream assembly |
Positioning comparison, not a tested ranking. Voyager / YC · Vyra / YC

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Before you start creating.
What is Palette AI?
Palette at palettelabs.com is an AI-native media platform for connected creative generation and editing. It is a different company from palettelabs.ai.
Does this campaign studio use Palette models?
No. It uses original local templates to produce briefs, storyboards and concept previews. It does not generate real media or connect to Palette.
How much does Palette cost?
The individual rate is advertised at $0.01 per credit. Actual generation usage depends on the job and model; project and enterprise services are quoted separately. Check the current price before purchase.
Is this a hands-on Palette review?
No. It is independent analysis of public materials with proposed evaluation tasks. Output quality, interface behavior and generation reliability remain untested.
