← Field notesEXPLAINING PRODUCTS / HEYGEN

A product explainer needs evidence on screen.

A presenter saying a tool is easy to use tells a buyer very little. Showing the task gives the claim something concrete to stand on.

What the product offers

HeyGen offers AI video creation with avatars and script-based workflows. Official source ↗

The decision that matters

Use a presenter to orient the viewer, then show the relevant interface and outcome. Keep the demonstration limited to a task you can reproduce. If the product has not been used, make the piece an overview of documented capabilities and identify any illustrative visuals. Do not imply an avatar is a real customer giving a testimonial.

A TEST WORTH RUNNING

Try one bounded task.

Write a 60-second explanation for a product you can legitimately access. Allocate time to the problem, the actual steps, and one limitation. Create a draft using a permitted avatar or stock presenter, then check the narration against the screen evidence.

What to capture

Record script and editing time, inaccurate claims removed, caption fixes, and whether a viewer can explain the task after watching.
