A discovery note should preserve uncertainty.
“We might need this next quarter” is different from “We need this next quarter.” A useful customer discovery note must keep that difference intact.
What the product offers
Granola describes an AI notepad that enhances meeting notes using meeting context. Official source ↗
The decision that matters
Separate what the customer said from what the team thinks it means. Keep tentative language around budgets, timing, and buying authority. A note that turns speculation into a commitment can distort the next product or sales decision, even when the summary sounds reasonable.
Try one bounded task.
Arrange a short mock discovery conversation with a consenting participant. Include a tentative deadline, a corrected number, an unanswered question, and a clearly assigned follow-up. Compare the resulting notes with an agreed reference record. Use fictional company details.
What to capture
Count preserved qualifications, corrected details, missing questions, and accurately assigned actions. Record how long it takes to produce a note you would actually share.
